Ganesha at Gelston’s

June 6th, 2006 No comments

A poem of boyhood in East Belfast:

This morning, I saw Shri Ganesha
In Strandtown,

He was standing at Gelston’s Corner

Looking down the hill towards

the Holywood Arches

Have you got the time mister? I asked
How much of it do you want? said He
Just as much as I need, said me -
Going along with the crack

Son, you have all the time in the world, said He
And in a trice he was off, riding on the back of His wee mouse.
