Once I was in Seatlle, staying at the home of John Gottman. As we returned from a trip, a group of workmen were doing some construction work in John’s yard. The foreman approached and said, “Professor Gottman, my fiancé and I have been attending some of your classes and we’ve decided to get married. Can you give me some advice?”

John scratched his head and mused for a couple of seconds, “Advice?” he said. “OK, honor your wife’s dreams.”
