Music and royalties for musicians

Eddie Stack says: “I’ve spoken with Irish musicians about the whole mp3/internet/Cd situation and most of them — especially the trad lads — believe that the day of the advance is over and they are following a two prong approach (1) recording + pressing their own cds for sale at gigs and (2) selling mp3s on iTunes and other sites.  Could a similar model emerge for writers?

    It already sorta has with lulu.com and such… however, some night be concerned about mainstream exposure. But instead of being in the dark until being spotted by a big label, they can get a headstart making their own cds!
