The path not taken

When Robert Frost wrote about the “path not taken”, I wonder what path he was talking about and whether and how much it would have been different. May be in the life of leaders like Abraham Lincoln as well there might have been bills proposed that never passed and in the history of great kings there might have been wars that were not fought and peace missions that were not accepted.

It’s venturesome to take such a path and although Sahaja Yogis are very venturesome, we hardly ever, walk this path and for a very good reason of course. We have to follow the great examples of great people before us and not put us and the collective in the path of risk. Democracy is such a noble concept and collective agreement is such a support. But what if we never accept the ideas of a genius or a poet just because they did not conform; I suppose, we would still believe that earth is a flat object in the center of the universe. What if in our eagerness to conform we give up an absolutely beautiful idea which would nourish the collective for times to come because it apparently came from a “questionable” source? Would we not feel responsible for being an obstacles rather than being milestones on the path of progress?

When such an idea comes, let us keep our hearts open and allow them to regulate our brain processes and not worry about the sanction of the collective but an approval from Divine.

I do not know why I am writing to you in this way, although, I may be a party to overlooking some great ideas myself.
But it is never late in the area of love and if my heart was not open why can it not open now?

These are very critical and significant times and I hope every one would share their ideas and heart, however, unusual they might seem and let us hope that those who hear them and are responsible for making history do not overlook the potential of truly wonderful ideas.

Perhaps we all need some correction/re-direction from time to time. Recently, I’ve noticed my attention is all over the place, and, with regard to one member of my family, I have been absolutely not the detached witness, in fact the opposite. Having a loving wife who is aware of the subtle nature of our practice is of course a great blessing.

As for the path not taken, noticeably, it is the past tense, and to me, of less interest because of that. Supposing I’d become a guitar player instead of a book publisher, supposing I’d not attended that public program nineteen years ago? Such speculation doesn’t interest me, for any different path, in the past, would most likely mean I wouldn’t be here, today, blessed beyond my wildest dreams.

As for the path that I might take tomorrow, that’s a different issue and worthy of some attention, but again, Shri Mataji comes to the rescue and I remember discussing with you in Phoenix how She says if you are in the center and surrendered, you’ll always know what to do, which path is the right one. I admitted to you at the time, I do not always find myself in that situation, but that is what I aspire to, and if I can get there, with Her guidance, I’ll begin to see and be able to take the right path every time.

Big hugs and much love

Alan
