ydig – to know, to be aware of, understand, be hip to, or to enjoy

ydig, is a blog dedicated to understanding, knowledge, awareness, enjoyment, music and – meditation, the best pathway to these I’ve learned to trust through twenty one years of practice – Sahaja Meditation.

“Dig”, comes from the Irish “tuig” meaning to understand, but it evolved in New York street argot to mean to become aware of, to understand, to know, to be hip to and to enjoy. (See Eric Partridge’s A Dictionary of Slang and Unconventional English and the New York Time’s article Humdinger of a Project: Tracing Slang to Ireland.

A Belfastman, and I’m proud to be one, would say y’ instead of you, so in this context ydig can be read as either a statement or an interrogative.
